ياسر عرفات قائد الشعب الفلسطيني ومفجر ثورته الحديثة ،وأحد أبرز القادة العظام في العالم خلال القرن العشرين، خاض نضالا وجهادا لا يلين طوال أكثر من نصف قرن على مختلف الجبهات، أعاد الحياة لاسم فلسطين ولقضية شعبها في الوعي الانساني، ووضع القضية الفلسطينية على الخارطة السياسية العالمية.

ومنذ ولادته حتى استشهاده، كأن فلسطين كانت على موعد مستمر معه ومع ذاتها، فقد حمل "ياسر" في مسيرة حياته كلها فلسطين .. وطنا وقضية .. أملا وهما .. حملها والتصق بها إلى درجة صار فيها الاسمان مترادفين لسنوات طويلة .. إن ذكرت فلسطين .. ذكر عرفات .. وإن قلت عرفات .. عرف الباكستاني والهولندي والروسي والكوبي والصيني والأميركي والاندونيسي ...أنك تعني فلسطين .

ولعل ظروف النشأة الاولى لـ"محمد ياسر " أو "ياسر" هي التي صقلت شخصيته وأكسبته تلك الصبغة والقدرة المتميزة التي جعلت منه باعث الكيانية الوطنية الفلسطينية، وقائد ثورة اللاجئين الذين كادت قضيتهم أن توضع على "الرف ".. لولا ذلك الجهد الهائل والنضال المتراكم لمئات الآلاف ممن قادهم ياسر عرفات في معركة إثبات الوجود ونفي النفي ... وفي معركة تكريس حقيقة وجود الشعب الفلسطيني ومنع اندثار قضيته أو تبعثرها.
